English is the most important language for modern media, as 55.5% of all websites on the internet are in English, and with 4.8 billion active Internet users, that is a whole lot of content that you could be missing out on. Big media sites on the Internet include YouTube, which has a majority of English users, with smaller communities in different languages. With 500 hours of content uploaded every minute onto Youtube, there is going to be a lot you can now understand!
Furthermore, many big blockbuster films are in English, as most of them are made in Hollywood which is the USA (where English is a native language). These films are the largest of their kind in budget, editing, content, and production and are a sight to behold! Not understanding English will cause you to miss out and subtitles and dubbed audio won’t do justice to actually understanding what was said by the character, as it could be lost in translation or voice inflection.
